Future America (Without the Sugar Coating)

If you haven’t seen this video yet, you owe it to yourself to watch it at least once.

Olbermann’s comments are true but, at best, they paint only an incomplete picture. What might Future America look like after a generation of absolute corporate rule? We have only to look at Thailand to get a glimpse of Future America and the grinding poverty that results when Big Business runs the show.

In Thailand, prostitution is a means to escape poverty for some, but in Thailand, prostitutes get to keep 100% of the money they earn. Somehow, I don’t think that the corporations that will rule over Future America are that magnanimous.

  1. Don't need to go to Thailand. Just take a vacation to one of the posh resorts of Cancun. As a member of the elite class, you will have servants catering to your every whim, and fine restaurants serving you every kind of food you'd ever want, and recreational activities out the yazoo. Then follow one of those 500 servants who are catering to your every whim home to his mud hut with the tin roof with dirt floor, no heating or air conditioning, no plumbing, no nothing, literally a pot to shit in.

Welcome to your future, peon -- not as the master of the universe, but, rather, as his servant. Because this is our ruler's model for the future of America -- they live in sybaritic luxury while we... well, we are their servants, of course. Alrighty, then!

  2. Right on, 'Tux. Of the 70-plus third-world countries we could cite as a shining example of Future America, none are as close--or as easy to get to--as Meh-hee-co.
